“summer breeze…makes me feel fine…blowin’ through the jasmine of my mind…” ~
Written by Stills & Nash, this version of Summer Breeze, is recorded by George Benson and Al Jarreau. The song is one of my favorites, especially the version by Frankie Beverley and Maze, that I couldn’t find online except for this version with The Isley Brothers…and I’ve probably told you more than you want to know. Anyway, the GBenson and AJarreau version is cool and scintillating like a summer breeze, especially on a hot, hot summer day…
Summer for me represents the “best of times and the worst of times” ~ cause in these parts it get so dang hot…and when it is cool -er, it is ever so welcome… The days are long and leisurely, free-flowing, delightful, often full of surprises. Throughout summer’s weeks, I enjoy:
dancing… to music @ home or sometimes, in the grocery store aisle…
eating… fresh salads, filled with fruits or avocado and egg or ripe, home grown tomato …
gatherings… with friends for a peasant afternoon of chit chat and stitching or enjoying concerts or a trip to a new quilt shop…
walking… through the neighborhoods, taking in and enjoying all the gorgeous colors of flowers…
reading … audio books on my walks or if my hands are otherwise occupied – stitching or knitting; turning to print in the early morning or on an afternoon break…
writing … in my journal, everyday, @ home, during Journal Club and out n’ about: @ the local Starbucks or Panera restaurant or our neighborhood park/pool…
listening… to music, glorious music: contemporary jazz vocalists, light classical selections and attending concerts with friends…
capturing... the day’s sights with words + photos, in color and stitching…
planning… my summer vacation to the west coast: Oregon and Washington the end of September, reuniting with both family and friends…
greeting… the morning’s sunrise and evening’s sunset…turning the calendar page, day after day…
ah yes: “summer breeze…makes me feel fine…blowin’ through the jasmine of my mind…”
