October’s One Little Word prompt was to listen to where and how our word shows up for us. Especially in music lyrics. I don’t listen to music as often as I did in my younger days but I was inspired to dig out a favorite compilation by Windham Hill: Conversations with God.
My word ‘gratitude’ doesn’t actually appear in any of these lyrics but I definitely feel grateful listening to these songs. They remind me of how blessed my life is. To be loved and to love; to have a home; meaningful work; time and space to create; abundance; and enoughness. Its taken me several decades to get ‘here’—where I recognize and value these blessings in my life; but I have arrived.

This is the ‘newer’ revised version found in some Catholic hymn books; ‘saved a wretch like me’ has been replaced by ‘saved and set me free’ which resonated with me the first time I heard it and I always sing this version now.
You can listen to Love is the Key here.
I love your interpretation of this month’s OLW prompt. I’d never seen the second wording of “Amazing Grace”…such an amazing song.
Cheers~
It’s funny how often I forget those lyrical phrases that take me somewhere/give me something as soon as I hear…and, of course, sing them. Thanks for the reminder. I need to put this as a monthly tickler…not an annual one.
Thank you, Honoré—I’m making a daily commitment to include music in some part of my day and it feels like a long lost friend. Homecaring to Pink yesterday, lol! Happy to be a tickler, Kathy! ♥
