Until recently I had never heard of Pharrell the musician/singer/songwriter of many talents. He composed the soundtrack for Despicable Me and wrote original songs for Despicable Me 2. His song Happy plays in the movie when Gru realizes he loves Lucy and is indeed….happy.
Maybe I came late to the party and all my Facebook friends had already discovered this intriguing video: 24 Hours of Happy. I posted a couple links with you MUST WATCH this! No one commented or raved. Sad that. I wanna play it for everyone! I listen and watch when I get up from the computer to move at the top of the hour. I do dishes and watch; vacuum and watch; walk on treadmill and watch. Obsessive much? Yes! It’s addictive. The video has been live since November and has already topped 5.8 million views!
The tune is indeed simple and catchy and the lyrics ring true for me, “Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof. Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth. Clap along if you know what happiness is to you. Clap along if feel like that’s what ya wanna do. Because I’m happy.” This song makes me grin. It’s the ultimate feel good song. And reminds me; I am happy—now act accordingly!
This one song plays over and over in a loop while a different dancer comes on screen to dance to it. The video was filmed in real time covering 24 hours. Watching the dancers in all shapes, sizes, ages, and levels of rhythm is a reminder of how alike we all are. How connected. Happy simply is—happy. I admit I’m an addict; addicted to happiness! You?
