…ADVENTURE! Our girl Chris – my 2nd oldest (21 years ) grand niece – just arrived today in Cape Town, South Africa for a two-week’s class on Politics in Gender and Sexuality. Chris attends Rutgers University and this special class includes students from Barnard and Columbia as well…I think about 12 American students are participating along with those from the University of Cape Town, the symposium’s sponsor. Chris left Friday at 6:40 pm, EST and arrived in Cape Town this morning about 10:45 AM, EST. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Chris is a) 21 years old and b) now in South Africa! I’m sure this is exciting – and what a fantastic adventure!
…Around here ~ a wee bit under the weather. This past week has found me out of action! Wednesday morning I was doing fine until about 11 AM when I suddenly felt totally tired – it was as though all my energy had been sucked out. I laid down only to get up again the next morning. I ached and kept nothing on my stomach. I think I might have gotten the norovirius – I’d had lunch out at a restaurant on Monday…and shrimp, at that. Thursday, I was a couch potato and as a result, Friday, just barely able to walk – or as I say: I had a hitch in my get-along. Fortunately, I felt well enough to see Chris off on Friday and I’m happy to report that today (Sunday), I’m almost back to being 100% me!
…Anticipation: I have a lot of untouched things on my list from last week – exciting things I’d planned to do last week so I’m looking forward to getting back on track, in gear, moving more and being able to eat again. And staying cool. We’ve had temps in the high 90s with a heat index of 110 degrees on Friday. Dare I hope for cooler weather this week. Oh well, why not?
Trust all is well with you and yours in your corners of the world.
Cheers~
How exciting for Chris—what an amazing young woman! Adventure is definitely in her genes!
Glad you’re up and at ’em again. Big vugs 😉
Okay, so that happened. That? Chris turning into this poised, confident woman ready to tackle it. I can’t wait to hear about her trip…such a place to discuss/debate the topics listed. Love to her from me, please.
OH! And, I’m sorry you were down…glad you are back up!
