O is for October…

Did you know that yesterday – October 5 – was “World Smile Day” in honor of  Harvey Ball who created the ubiquitous smiley face? Learning that fact made me smile…and brainstorm some other things that October brings to mind:

  • oak trees and acorns ~ there seem to be quite a lot this season and one has to be extra careful not to get bombarded by a falling limb laden with acorns or to step on a bunch and not lose your footing…
  • pumpkins, of course pumpkins…
  • mums in bright colors of yellow, magenta, orange…
  • the leaves on trees changing colors… …
  • cooler nights and shorter days…
  • Halloween, tho’ we don’t have trick-or-treaters but I still buy candy corn, it’s good for snackin’…
  • the return of pumpkin scones and pumpkin spice lattés at Starbucks…
  • apple cider and hayrides and scare crows…

  • 91 days left in the year…really?!

What about October makes you smile?

  1. Fall is my favorite season for all the excellent reasons you listed above. Jus’ sayin’. Great trivia about Harvey and the smiley face…saw him in Forrest Gump! LOL!

  2. Everything about October makes me smile! My favorite month, remember?
