So much has been going on in my universe over the last 18 months, my reading has felt rushed and largely unsatisfying. Thank goodness for magazines. But over the last 6 weeks (yes, that long), I have been enjoying 2 very different titles. First, Anna Quindlen’s memoir, Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake. I never read Quindlen’s NYT column…I became a fan with her novel Black & Blue. Clearly, she is in her element here…holding a conversation with her reader – another woman, for sure – and seeming to pause in her writing for a response. Fun.
The other? Adriana Trigiani’s The Shoemaker’s Wife. From a mountain in the Italian Alps to the Met in NYC, she has truly woven a tale of life; and her characters are full of the complexities that make us human. My problem is that this is an audio book and I’m just not on the road much anymore!
Kathy they sound wonderful, both are authors I admire and I’ve now got these two on reserve at my local library. Thx for sharing!
