This is my mom, Dotti, she is 79 and has lived with us since Thanksgiving after her dementia progressed and she could no longer live independently. Life is challenging and full…
Summer has been TOO hot for many outdoor activities but Mom attends elder care at a local church on Thursday’s and really enjoys making friends and being active. Last week at elder care she joined a small group of women that each worked with a local artist to create a painting through a program called Healing Through the Arts. The paintings will be selected to be auctioned off to raise funds for a local Alzheimer organization and will be displayed for a month locally at the Appleton Museum of Art.
Mom titled her painting Paradise, isn’t this an amazing work of art? She’s so proud!
Hi, Laura – Your mom is the cutest thing! Her artwork is lovely. Thanks for sharing and give her a hug for me. I feel like I know her. VUGS!
That is an absolutely beautiful painting. Tell your Mom that she is a wonderful artist!
P.S. I certainly couldn’t paint that well!
This is a fabulous piece of art. Your mom has every reason to be proud.
Your mom is the same age as my mom. What a great program Healing through the Arts offers through the church. And what a beautiful painting! I love the colors and would buy it in a heartbeat. I hope she continues to find more activities that will keep her in that beautiful smile. 🙂
What a wonderful picture of your mom and her art work! They are both lovely and thanks so much for sharing. Lots of talent in your family.
Mom has always been so creative and ingenious and know I do come by it honestly. 😉
It was rewarding to see her believe in herself again.
go Dottie! I am so proud of you…each day that you struggle to be- with the support and love of your family, expressing your joy in color and the smile of your accomplishments… my love to you!
